In Windows XP and Vista, you can use the command “shutdown.exe” in command prompt to log off, shutdown, restart, abort system shutdown, set timeout for shutdown to XX seconds, and etc. Of course we can shutdown Windows computer by going to Start > Shut Down but there are times we need to shutdown the computer automatically via batch file.
